Fountains
2012
"Fountains" is a public artwork created for the 4th West Lake International Invitational Sculpture Exhibition. It remains in permanent collection at the Xixi Wetland Park in Hangzhou, China.
The ephemeral installation is a contrast within a public park full of solid sculptures. It remains hidden under the water surface until visitors walk by. Then it becomes vivid and instantly reacts to their movements. The direct interaction invites visitors to play with the installation and to experience it.
The production has been unexpectedly difficult caused by terrible weather conditions. So due to last-minute changes and technical improvisations only a reduced version of the initial concept was realized.
